Ukraine says it will work on peace proposal that U.S. negotiated with Russia

The United States and Russia have drafted a plan that would see an end to the war. The CBC's Crystal Goomansingh is following developments and joined CBC News Network from London.

Ukraine says it will work with the U.S. on a 28-point peace plan that was negotiated between the Trump administration and Russia. The proposal, drafted without Ukraine or Europe, would reportedly require Kyiv to give up parts of eastern Ukraine and shrink the size of its army.Ukraine’s representative at the UN Security Council said those aren’t concessions the country is willing to make.Later, Zelenskyy said he was ready to work with the U.S. on elements of the plan and expected to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump in the coming days. The proposal comes as Zelenskyy’s administration faces a major corruption scandal involving its nuclear agency.
