Vancouver police say three people were stabbed along the Yaletown seawall on Friday morning and the female suspect remains at large.
Police said they responded to calls about the stabbings near David Lam Park around 7:30 a.m. PT.
Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin said the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
She said police believe the stabbings were three separate incidents and could have occurred minutes apart.
"From what we know so far ... these stabbings were very unprovoked and it was random, so there was no altercation that happened before," Visintin told CBC News.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous woman in her late 20s or early 30s with long black hair in a ponytail and a slim build. She was wearing a large, black leather jacket, tight pants and a leopard-print shirt or scarf.
Officers are canvassing the area for video footage to get a more precise photo of the suspect, according to Visintin.
She said concern from people who use the seawall is understandable.
"This is a very frightening incident for those that use the seawall and residents of the area," Visintin said.
She added, while the victims will recover, the emotional injuries after a random attack can be severe.
Visintin encouraged anyone who has information or video footage to speak to police.
