At AACS Counseling, our DOT SAP Program is designed to guide employees in safety-sensitive positions through the required Return-to-Duty process after a drug or alcohol violation. We understand that a failed or refused test can feel overwhelming, but our team of DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professionals (SAPs) provides a clear, supportive, and compliant pathway to help you get back to work safely and confidently.

The DOT SAP Program is a federally mandated process outlined under 49 CFR Part 40. It begins with an initial SAP evaluation, where a certified professional assesses your history and situation. Based on this evaluation, you’ll receive a personalized treatment or education plan tailored to meet DOT requirements. Once completed, you return for a follow-up SAP evaluation to verify your progress and readiness to resume safety-sensitive duties. After passing a Return-to-Duty drug or alcohol test, you’ll also be placed under a follow-up testing plan that ensures ongoing compliance for up to five years.
