NC America announced today Blade and Soul NEO the modern reinterpretation

For example, the Blade and Soul NEO Classic Divine Gems Master class uses Thunder Drake Slash when in a special stance. This can be modified to hit multiple times for extra damage or to perform a single enemy-stunning strike. The multi-strike variation is optimal when dealing damage in PvE situations. At the same time, the stunning variant is useful in PvP environments where crowd-controlling attacks are key to shutting down opponents.
New to Neo are Soul Cores. Like Wuthering Waves' Echo system and Nioh 2's Yokai Skills, Neo lets you summon a boss' shadow to deal damage with a signature ability. For example, you can summon the ape-like Infernal Lord to perform a flamethrower attack. These abilities are extremely powerful, but have an extended, 1-minute cooldown that prevents overuse. They also have a considerable start-up animation, making them nonoptimal in fast-paced PvP scenarios. Their ideal use case seems to be boss-crushing attacks that are best unleashed when a target is restrained or stunned.
The Mantra system is also new, though it works similarly to the Gild Stone system in the current game. You essentially slot Star Stones into your accessories for a set bonus. Examples include a 5% boost to critical rate or an 8% chance to recover focus on hit. The simplest change is the most significant: you can now infinitely Windwalk without losing stamina. Given Blade and Soul's wuxia roots, it's no surprise that you spend much time dashing and gliding across environments (or running up walls and trees). This Windwalking system offers thrilling exploration and parkour that was previously hindered by the original game's stamina system.

Blade and Soul was a particularly eye-catching MMORPG during its heyday thanks to its excellent action and fantastic art style. It is much more commonplace to see action in MMORPGs now, but Blade and Soul was a unique experience when it launched, and remains so despite its shortcomings. Perhaps Blade and Soul Neo is the second wind the game needs to hit mainstream success.
